The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 became Public Law 117-2 on March 11, 2021. Among its provisions, it changed the child tax credit for taxable years beginning after December 31, 2020 and before January 1, 2022: the credit amount was $3,000 per qualifying child ($3,600 for a child under 6) instead of $1,000, reduced for higher incomes.
